Free Small Landholder Workshops
04 May 2017
Central West Local Land Services are partnering with local councils, Landcare, NSW Police, NSW Rural Fire Service and SafeWork NSW to run a series of free, practical workshops focussing on small land holdings across the region.
Land Services Officer, Libby McIntyre said that the Dubbo workshop held in December 2016 was very well received and resulted in requests for more workshops.
“This next round of workshops aims to help landholders make informed decisions about their property and understand their responsibilities”, Libby said.
The workshops will cover topics such as, Local Land Services functions, Property Identification Codes or PIC, biosecurity risks, domestic and feral animal control, appropriate use of Travelling Stock Reserves, fencing, rural crime prevention, on farm and general safety, plus much more.
Expert speakers will be available to help attendees find out more about the roles and responsibilities as an owner of a small landholding and how to manage and make the most out of their property.
Attending one of these informative sessions will also provide an opportunity for local residents to connect with like-minded people and find out what type of services are available locally.
“While the workshops are targeted to small landholdings or peri-urban blocks, information is very relevant to other residents,”
“They also give landholders a chance to talk to our staff and other providers about programs or services that may assist in their management” Libby said.
Attendee of 2016 Dubbo information session, Shannon Isbester described the day as very informative.
“It (the workshop) displayed how approachable and knowledgeable the Local Land Services staff are, it has given me confidence to seek support when needed in the future” Mr Isbester said.
Further workshops will be held at;
Dubbo - Saturday 13 May, Coonabarabran – Thursday 25 May and Forbes – Saturday 27 May
