Plan ahead and save - Lamb survival webinar

'Plan ahead and save lambs', is the focus of a webinar to be held at 1pm on Wednesday the 27th of May.
Central West Local Land Services and Sheep Connect NSW are once again partnering to host a webinar, with this one providing sheep producers with information on pre-lambing management and lamb survival.
In order to efficiently and effectively communicate with larger audiences irrespective of location, experts have been taking to technology. With successful webinars hosted over the preceding months, it is evident that this is a communication channel suited to participants in remote locations or with busy lifestyles.
Central West Local Land Services Senior Land Services Officer - Livestock, Dave Trengove stated "We have received positive feedback from past webinars so will definitely add it to our list of communication tools. Field days are great and will definitely still occur, however we can't physically be everywhere at once – webinars are helping us to bridge the gap."
This webinar will be presented by Dr Gordon Refshauge, NSW DPI Sheep Research Officer. "As long as the value of lamb stays where it is, producers should focus squarely on their flock's reproductive efficiency. Lamb weaning rates can be improved by 10% on most farms, through improved lamb survival, but getting things right means planning ahead", said Dr. Refshauge.
"It is important that producers understand the reasons for lamb losses at lambing and have management strategies in place to minimise these losses".
Lamb survival information covered will focus on lambing paddock preparation, fox control and newborn lamb autopsy.
